Im Fichtelgebirge, bei Wunsiedel, gibt es nicht nur eine tolle Freilichtbühne, sondern auch das größte Felsenlabyrinth Europas.
In the Fichtel Mountains, near the town of Wunsiedel, you not only can visit a very nice open air theatre but also walk the largest rock labyrinth of Europe.
Es gibt unterschiedliche Wege hinauf und hinab, diese sind markiert und man kann am Eingang auch eine Karte haben.
The paths up and down are different, well marked and you can take a map at the entrance.
Der Aufstieg dauert ca. 45-60 Minuten, der Abstieg ist etwas kürzer. Ich habe natürlich für beides mal wieder länger gebraucht wegen der vielen Fotos😉. Um meine Gelenke zu schonen, war ich mit guten Wanderstiefeln und Stöcken unterwegs, worüber ich dann auch froh war. Allerdings laufen Leute auch mit Turnschuhen oder Sandalen dort hinauf.
For the way up you need about 45 – 60 minutes; the descent is a bit faster. As for me, I always need more time because of the photos. And as a relief for my aching joints, I wore good hiking boots and canes, of which I was glad. That said, people also go up there wearing sneakers or even sandals.
Einige gravierte Felstafeln erinnern an den Besuch der königlichen Gesellschaft um Königin Luise, die unter den ersten Besuchern des ab 1788 gangbar gemachten Areals waren. Vorher galt das Felschaos als verflucht! Der Name „Felsenlabyrinth“ stammt von Goethe, der es 1785 besucht hatte und hier seine Theorien über Granitverwitterung entwickelte – wer hätte das gedacht? Sie sind übrigens heute noch als korrekt anerkannt.
Some engraved rock plaques are reminders of Queen Luise with her entourage, some of the first visitors after the area had been developed for hiking (from 1788). Before, people avoided this „cursed“ place! Nevertheless, in 1785 Goethe visited and got his ideas of the weathering of granite, which are still deemed correct. Who thought a poet and writer was a natural scientist, too?

Jedenfalls alles sehr wild-romantisch, und auch für Kinder – wenn nicht mehr zu klein – ein großer Spaß! Mit kleinerem Kind in der Rückenkraxe bekommt man an den engen Stellen Probleme!
Anyway, all very wild and romantic, and especially great for kids! That’s to say, with very little ones that have to ride in a baby carrier on the back, it may get a bit too tight in the narrow places.

In letzter Zeit habe ich ein paar Bilder mit Aquarellfarben gemalt. Oben: ein Pferdehof in Brandis, Sachsen. Meine Ferienwohnung war direkt gegenüber, sodass ich diesen Anblick in der Morgensonne festhalten konnte.
Lately, I’ve done some watercolours, above: a horse farm in Brandis, Saxony. My Airbnb was on the other side of the street, so I profited from this view in the early morning sun.

Und hier mal wieder ein Motiv aus dem Botanischen Garten Augsburg, der eine unerschöpfliche Quelle der Inspiration ist.
The last one once again shows a scene from the Augsburg Botanic Garden. This garden in my home town always is a great source of inspiration!
Gärten bieten immer wieder tolle Motive zum Fotografieren und zum Malen. Das Bild oben zeigt den Japangarten im Botanischen Garten Augsburg. Besonders schön grad mit blühenden Azaleen. Das untere habe ich auf Wunsch meiner Schwägerin und meines Bruders nach einem Foto gemalt, das sie mir von ihrem Garten geschickt hatten. Es zeigt eine Abendstimmung.
Gardens allways offer nice views for photos and paintings. The picture above shows the Japanese Garden, part of the Augsburg Botanic Garden. This time of year it’s very beautiful with the blooming azaleas. The one below has been done from a reference photo my brother and sister-in-law had sent me , it shows an evening in their garden.
In Dießen am Ammersee liegt dieses Kleinod, ursprünglich von den Baronen von Schacky auf Schönfeld 1904 angelegt, inzwischen nach längerem Dornröschenschlaf von einem extra gegründeten Verein wieder zum Leben erweckt. Er ist frei zugänglich, bietet aber weder Restaurant noch Toiletten, das sollte man beachten. Ein kleines Picknick auf einer der Parkbänke ist ja auch schöner – und öffentliche Toiletten gibt es nicht weit entfernt an der Seepromenade.
This beautiful park is situated in the small town of Dießen on the western shore of Lake Ammersee, Bavaria. In 1904 Baron and Baroness of Schacky created it. After a long period of neglect, it is by now tended to by a society of volunteers. It’s open daily, just closing over night. Free entry, but neither restaurant nor toilets – you’ll find the latter not far on the lakeshore promenade, and a little picknick on a parkbench is a good idea, too.

Etliche Statuen und Bauten sorgen für interessante Sichten. Letztere haben auch jeweils ein kleines Schild, welche die Figur o.ä. erläutert.

Der Monopteros bietet eine tolle Aussicht, teils bis zum See, teils bis zu den entfernten Alpen.
From the Monopteros you can enjoy nice views towards the lake or even of the Alps.
Aber natürlich ist der Bau selbst auch immer gern Fokus auf einem Bild…

Das war ein kleiner „Appetithappen“ – wer den Park besuchen will: er liegt direkt an der Durchgangsstrasse, am Südende des Ortes, am Hang. Wegweiser dorthin habe ich nicht gesehen, aber am Eingang hängt ein Schild. Unten noch ein paar Eindrücke des Ortes und der Seepromenade:
Well, this was just a „teaser“. If you visit lake Ammersee as a daytrip from Munich, don’t miss it! It’s situated on the main street on the southern end of the town, on a slope. I haven’t seen any signs pointing to it, but with navigation on a mobile device, there’s no problem. Now, below just a few impressions of the town and the lakeshore:
Zum Muttertag hatte ich natürlich meine Mutter in Amberg besucht. Das Wetter war ja toll, und so machte ich auch einen kleinen Ausflug in die Umgebung. Dörfer, sanfte Hügel und die leuchtenden Rapsfelder machen sich immer gut auf allen Bildern.
For a Mother’s Day visit at my Mom’s in Amberg, I also profited of the nice weather by a trip to the surrounding countryside. Villages, soft hills and the wonderful canola fields always make for nice pictures.
Die zwei Aquarelle oben und unten habe ich auf den Einband eines Sketchbooks gemalt – dieser war extra weiß und mit Leinwandstruktur (von Canson). Behandelt mit Aquarellgrund, gelangen diese Bilder, auch wenn die Farbe auf der Struktur etwas anders reagiert als auf Papier.
The two watercolours above and below have been done on the outside of a sketchbook which featured a white canvas binding (by Canson). Treated with watercolour primer, it accepted the colours although the canvas structure needed a bit of getting used to.

Das Schöne in dieser Gegend (nahe Segelflugplatz) ist, dass es dort auch jede Menge Sitzbänke – zum Ausruhen und um die Aussicht zu genießen – gibt, sodass auch ich mit meinen Hüftproblemen dort spazieren konnte.
Despite my aching hip joints I could enjoy walking there (near the glider airfield) because there are a lot of benches for a rest and the views.

Kleiner Rückblick auf den Winter: es gab hier ja kaum Schnee, aber ein frostiger Morgen, an dem ich frei hatte, bescherte mich mit dieser wunderschönen Stimmung.
A short look back to last winter: here, there was almost no snow, but one frosty morning I was free and lucky to enjoy this dreamlike mood.

Erinnert ein wenig an die Sage/Oper Lohengrin… Die übrigen Bilder sprechen für sich – einfach genießen!
This scene with the swans silently appearing out of the mist reminded me of the tale/opera about Lohengrin… The other pictures speak for themselves – enjoy!
Neulich habe ich diese Lilien geschenkt bekommen – sie standen gleich Modell für dieses Bild. Nun kann man sie bewundern, ohne den etwas zu starken Duft, den sie verströmen…
Some days ago I got these lilies – a perfect model for an acrylic painting. Now you can admire them without having to cope with their quite strong (almost nauseating) perfume…
Nach einem Foto, das ich mal im Frühling in Engelberg gemacht hatte, entstand dieses Bild. Tulpen mal nicht auf weitem Feld, sondern ungewohnt mit den Bergen im Hintergrund.
For this painting I used a reference photo from a trip to Engelberg some years ago. It’s a bit unusual with the alpine landscape instead of the usual flat tulip fields in the Netherlands..
Nochmal Tulpen, diesmal auf einem Collage-Hintergrund. Die Schmetterlinge sind aus einem alten Biologiebuch ausgeschnitten und aufgeklebt.

Bei diesem Heidebild habe ich einen etwas anderen Stil ausprobiert, der sich mehr an Formen orientiert als an Einzelheiten. Es hat bereits ein neues Zuhause gefunden: meine Nichte hat es sich ausgesucht.
For this picture of the Luneburg Heath I’ve tried a different style, with more focus on shapes than on details. It has already found a new home with my niece.
Das Kakteenhaus im Botanischen Garten ist super, wenn man mit Grüntönen spielen will.

Eine kleine Leinwand: Landschaft im Allgäu. So gern ich mit Feder und Aquarellfarbe arbeite, Acryl macht auch sehr viel Spaß!

Vor dem großen Unwetter konnte ich noch einen schönen Nachmittag im Botanischen Garten hier in Augsburg verbringen. Nun besuche ich ja Parks und Gärten, wo immer ich Urlaub mache oder Ausflüge, doch ich muss sagen, dieser „heimische“ Garten ist einer der schönsten und abwechslungsreichsten!
Just before the heavy rainfalls I had spent a nice afternoon in the botanic garden here in Augsburg. Whereever I go, I always like to visit parks and gardens, have seen a lot of them, mostly in Germany and in France. But this one in my hometown is among the most divers ones, offering many different themes!
Inzwischen gibt es die ersten Rosen – zur Hauptblütezeit bietet der Garten eine riesige Vielfalt an Rosen! Es lohnt sich, dann auch mal mit der Nase auf Entdeckung zu gehen!
Already, the first roses are in bloom – by end of June you can enjoy a lot of different varieties of roses: a sight to see and an olfactory adventure!
Ich persönlich liebe auch den „Bauerngarten“, u.a. weil sich der Holzzaun so gut auf Fotos macht…
One of my personal favourites: the „farmer’s garden“. The wooden fence makes for nice photos…
In einem Bereich wurden Beispiele und Inspiration für Privatgärten gestaltet.

Aber natürlich sind diese hübschen Ecken auch ideal, um im Sommer ein schattiges, intimes Plätzchen zum Ausruhen zu finden.

Auch ein Liebling der Fotografen ist der Japangarten.

Im hinteren Bereich gibt es eine Liegewiese, Spielplatz und einen Biergarten. Gegenüber davon befindet sich dieser Teich, einer von mehreren.
On the far end of the garden there’s a lawn with seats, a playground and a beer garden, as well as this pond – one of several.
Mandarinen im Römergarten – da Augsburg eine römische Vergangenheit hat, werden hier Steinblöcke aus Ausgrabungen mit der Rekonstruktion eines klassischen Römergartens kombiniert.
Tangerines in the „Roman Garden“ – because of Augsburg’s Roman history, a reconstructed Roman garden has been combined with carved stones from excavations.
Viele dieser meist mediterranen Pflanzen gibt es hier natürlich im Topf, da sie den Winter nicht überstehen würden. Ebenso mussten die Römer, welche damals hier seßhaft wurden, ihre gewohnten Pflanzen im Winter nach drinnen holen!
Most of these mediterranian plants have to pass the cold German winter in the green house, so they have to be potted. That’s exactly what the Romans who had moved here under Cesar Augustus did with the plants they had brought from home!

Im Rosenpavillion finden auch immer mal wieder Konzerte statt.- So, für diesmal war es das, auch wenn ich mal wieder nur einen kleinen Teil des tollen Gartens zeigen konnte…
The gazebo in the rose garden is also used for concerts.- Well, enough for today, even if this was just a small part of the beautiful garden….
Im Mai 2020 hatte ich diesen schönen Park bereits einmal besucht und auch einen Blogbeitrag mit vielen Bilder gepostet. Doch zum Einen findet man immer wieder neue Perspektiven, zum Anderen ist Pfingsten eine der wenigen Gelegenheiten, wo auch der private Bereich des Gartens zugänglich ist. Daher nützte ich das Wetter am Pfingstmontag für diesen Ausflug.
In May 2020 I already had visited this beautiful park once and posted a lot of pictures. But of course you always find new perspectives and views, moreover pentecost is one of just a handful of occasions the private part of the park is opened for the public. So I profited of the nice weather for another visit.

This time of year, a lot of rhododendron bushes, irises and poppies make for colourful pictures.
