Vor vielen Jahren hatte ich mal eine Woche im Dezember auf Mallorca verbracht. Angenehme Temperaturen, gemischtes Wetter und kaum etwas los – es war sehr schön! Zwei der dort entstandenen Fotos habe ich nun als Aquarell umgesetzt. Oben: ein etwas stürmischer Tag an den Klippen. Unten: im orientalischen Garten von Alfabia.
Many years ago I had spent a week in December on the island of Mallorca. In mixed weather conditions but pleasant temperatures and, most of all, very little tourism, we had a great time! Now I’ve used two of my photos of this trip as reference for watercolours. Above: a windy day at the cliffs; below: in the oriental gardens of Alfabia.

Die oberen beiden Bilder entstanden nach Fotos meines Kurztrips nach Norddeutschland. Das untere ist mal wieder ein Motiv aus der Wohnung meiner Mutter.
The first two pictures have been done from photos taken on my short trip to the north of Germany. The last one once again shows a motive at my Mom’s place.

Vorletzte Woche verbrachte ich einen Vormittag im Bergpark Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe (Unesco Welt-Kulturerbe). Er wurde im Laufe von 3 Jahrhunderten immer wieder neu gestaltet von den jeweiligen Herren auf Schloss Wilhelmshöhe. Er ist sehr groß (560 ha). Sehr beliebt sind die Wasserspiele, die auch heute noch betrieben werden, allerdings nur sonn- und feiertags sowie mittwochs, und zwar auch nur von 14.30 bis 16.00 Uhr. Das konnte ich diesmal nicht schaffen. Trotzdem war es ein tolles Erlebnis! Die Wasserläufe und Teiche, die Fantasiegebäude und nicht zuletzt der reiche Bestand an großen, alten Bäumen sorgen für tolle Aussichten, Stimmungen und Motive! Jetzt im Herbst sorgt die Laubfärbung für ganz besonderen Genuss.
Two weeks ago I spent a morning in the „Mountain Park“ Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe (which actually are the garden grounds of Wilhelmshöhe Castle, on a hillside facing east). It’s listed Unesco World Heritage and has been altered continually during 3 centuries along with the changing tastes of society and the castle’s lords. It covers 1384 acres and is most popular for its trick fountains and other waterworks which are still operated – but only on Sundays, Wednesdays and holidays from 14.30 to 16.00 hours. This time, I wasn’t able to see them – nevertheless, the visit was a great experience! The creeks and ponds, the fancy buildings and mostly the rich population of big, old trees make for beautiful views, moods and motives! In October, the autumn colours offer a special treat…
Am Gipfel des Hügels thront eine Herkulesstatue mit Blick nach Osten über einem künstlichen Felsgebilde, zu seinen Füßen die Terrassen der Wasserspiele. Ich war bei Sonnenaufgang am Herkules und blickte über Kassel.
On top of the hill, a statue of Hercules on a manmade rocky building overtowers the first terraces of the water works. I enjoyed the view of Kassel at sunrise from up there.

Nachdem ich dort oben eine gute Stunde herumspaziert war, fuhr ich hinab zum Schloss, um den Rest des Parks von dort aus zu erkunden.
After strolling about on the hill for an hour, I went to the castle to explore the rest of the park from there.

Auch im Mai und Juni muss der Garten sehr schön sein: im unteren Bereich ist ein Rosengarten (hier die letzten des Jahres) und viele Rhododendren! Unten: noch ein paar großartige Bäume…

Ich war 4 Stunden insgesamt im Park, habe aber noch nicht alles gesehen! Jedenfalls: eine weitere Reise wert…

Hallo, Ihr Lieben! Grad wurde ich informiert, dass heute mein „Jahrestag“ bei WordPress ist. (Fast) gleichzeitig mit meinem 25jährigen Dienstjubiläum… In den 7 Jahren habt Ihr meine kreative Entwicklung verfolgt: zunächst gab es sehr viel Genähtes und verschiedene Basteltechniken, Schmuckgestaltung und Fotografie. Ihr habt teilgenommen an meinen ersten Mal- und Zeichenversuchen und beobachtet, wie ich dabei stets sicherer wurde. Vielen lieben Dank für Euer Interesse und die gelegentlichen Kommentare! Aber auch die Fotografie begleitet mich weiterhin, genauso wie die Näherei. Wer weiß, was die nächsten 7 Jahre Neues bringen? Einen ausführlichen Rückblick mit Bildern mache ich erst zum 10-jährigen, derzeit schaue ich lieber noch nach vorne.. Daher: oben und unten der heutige Sonnenaufgang, wie ich ihn auf meiner dienstlichen Tour erlebt habe.
Hi, folks, just got a notice that today I’m 7 years on WordPress! During this time you’ve followed my creative progression: at first, there were many sewn projects, various craft techniques, jewelry making and photography. You watched my first clumsy tries at sketching and painting as well as me getting more accomplished. Thank you so much for your interest and comments! While sketching has become a large part of my life, photography and sewing still are favourites, too. Who knows what the next seven years may bring? On creatologyblog’s 10th anniversary I’ll take a look back with photos; just now I’d still like to look forward… So above and below you see the sunrise as I watched it today, during my working tour.

Den Sommer über habe ich viel in Gärten fotografiert, um Motive zum Zeichnen zu sammeln. Hier zwei hübsche Ecken im Garten meiner Freundin Elke.
During the summer months I’ve taken a lot of pictures in various gardens as reference for sketching. These two watercolours show nice corners in the garden of my friend Elke.
In letzter Zeit war ich etwas „faul“, was Blog Beiträge angeht – aber nicht beim Zeichnen! Also hole ich heute etwas nach und zeige ein paar der neuesten Bilder. Oben: Urban Sketching in München, Außenbereich eines Cafés.

Auch vor Ort gezeichnet: Eingang des Wasserschlosses Sandizell Nähe Schrobenhausen – es ist in privater Hand und nur im Rahmen von Veranstaltungen zugänglich, hier war „Mediterraner Markt“.

Eine Freundin hatte mir ein Foto ihrer Stockrosen (Malven, Eibisch, Hibiscus) geschickt, dafür bekam sie sie dann gemalt zurück.
Having sent a photo of her hollyhocks to me, a friend got them back as watercolour.
Und mal wieder ein Garten… Mein nächster Beitrag wird aber ein gänzlich anderes Thema haben!

Auch hier bin ich jede Woche einmal, um die Senioren zu unterstützen. Sie haben mich freundlicherweise in ihrem Garten fotografieren lassen, als Vorlage zum Zeichnen. Bei meinem nächsten Besuch werden sie das Original bekommen.
This is another place I visit once a week to help the elderly inhabitants. They kindly let me take pictures as reference for sketching. On my next visit they’ll get the original as a gift.

Ein Ortsteil von Lugano, namens Carona, beherbergt den Parco San Grato. Es ist ein frei zugänglicher Park, auch mit Spielplätzen. Besonders schön im Mai, wenn die zahlreichen Rhododendren blühen – den Rest habe ich noch erleben können. Außerdem gibt es dort ca. 20 Arten von Nadelbäumen, die bereits vormittags an dem sonnigen Hang ihre Düfte verströmten – ja, ich machte mir ein Spiel daraus, unterschiedliche Arten zu erschnuppern! Fichte und Tanne riechen nach Heimat, die Zedern nach südlichen Gefilden etc… Dazu kommt, dass die Lage am Hügel teils tolle Ausblicke auf die Gegend und den Luganer See bietet. Danach schlenderte ich schließlich hinunter in den Ort – ein hübsches kleines Dorf (auch wenn zur Stadt Lugano gehörend). Doch zuerst Bilder vom Park:
The village of Carona, which actually is part of the town of Lugano, harbours the Parco San Grato. This parc is open and accessible without entry fee, and especially beautiful in May with blooming rosebays. It also offers playing grounds and a large variety of conifers. The latter were already exuding their fragrances in the late morning hours with the sun heating up the mountainside. So I tried to detect different trees by their smell: fir and spruce smell like home, cedars and cypress like the Mediterranian… Moreover, being situated on a hill, some places in the parc offer great views of the surrounding landscape, the village and Lake Lugano. Afterwards, I did a little tour of the village of Carona which is quite picturesque. But first, some impressions of the parc:

In den Innenräumen befindet sich eine kleine, aber gut aufbereitete archäologische Sammlung, die die Besiedlung der Gegend von der Bronzezeit bis heute belegt und erläutert.
Inside, there’s a small but well designed and showcased archeologic collection, showing and explaining the colonization of the region from the Bronze Age until today.
