Farblich ähnlich wie das Motiv von gestern und doch ganz anders… In Norddeutschland findet man noch oft diese Reetdach-Häuser, häufig mit blauer Tür und einem hübschen Garten drum herum.
This picture shows colours similar to the motive from yesterday’s post, but a quite different style of house: in the North of Germany you find lots of these houses with thatched roofs, often with blue doors and nice gardens around them.
Ein hübscher Ort, mit viel Tourismus in der Hochsaison, da er nah an allen Hauptattraktionen der Gegend liegt, insbesondere an der weltberühmten Höhle von Lascaux und anderen archäologischen Stätten. Im Juni hielt sich der Trubel noch sehr in Grenzen. Das Bild zeigt den Blick vom Ufer der Vézère auf die Altstadt. Vielerorts in Frankreich zu sehen: der angesähte Blumenschmuck in den Landesfarben blau-weiß-rot. Hier fand ich es besonders interessant, da sich die Farben in den Dächern – hier rote Ziegel, da blaugrauer Schiefer – wiederholen.
A pretty small town, with a lot of tourists during high-season because it’s situated near most of the main attractions like the world-famous Lascaux Cave and other archaeological sites. In June, it still was quiet enough. The picture shows the view over the Vézère river towards the old part of the town. In France, you often see flower combinations in the national colours. Here, I found them especially intriguing because they corresponded with the colours of the roofs: red tiles and blue-gray slate.

Auf alle Fälle eine traumhafte Lage! Die Ostseite von Vancouver Island liegt nämlich sehr schön geschützt, und die Bewohner dieser Häuser können gelegentlich sogar mit dem Fernglas Orcas und andere Wale beobachten…

Dies Blumenbild habe ich als klassisches Aquarell gemalt, ohne Linien. Hat auch mal Spaß gemacht! Bei manchen Motiven (besonders bei Gebäuden) bevorzuge ich die Linienzeichnung, dies hier gefällt mir ohne.
For these flowers I haven’t used the liner, making it a classic watercolour painting. It was fun, too! For some motives (especially buildings) I prefer the lines, but I like this one without them.
Dieses Bergdorf ist schon von weitem sehr malerisch und erinnert an die Toskana. Den besten Blick hat man von diesem Parkplatz aus, der auch Töpfe mit leuchtenden Blumen für den Vordergrund bietet!

Mal wieder nach einem Foto entstand dies Bild. Es zeigt den Blick vom Park in Nuoro, Sardinien. Wie man sieht, liegt die Stadt in den Bergen des sardischen Inlands. Die Suche nach Fotos von ehemaligen Reisen und dann das Malen lassen die Erinnerungen wieder lebendig werden!

Bei den heutigen Wetteraussichten (sonnig, bis zu 14°C) beschloss ich heute früh spontan, einen Tagesausflug zu machen. Nachdem ich in letzter Zeit zwei Bilder gezeichnet hatte, die am Ammersee fotografiert worden waren, zog es mich genau dort hin! Zunächst machte ich jedoch Halt in Seefeld, wo ich das Schloss zeichnete:
The weather being warm and sunny, I decided this morning to go on a daytrip. Having done two sketches from photos taken at lake Ammersee this week, this destination came immediately to my mind. That said, I first went to Seefeld to sketch the castle:
Das Schloss ist immer noch im Privatbesitz des Grafen Toerring. Vor dem Schloss (aus dieser Perspektive wäre das rechts davon) sind ehemalige Wirtschaftsgebäude, die heutzutage kleine Boutiquen, Kunsthandwerk und ein Kino beherbergen. Das Foto unten zeigt den Torbogen:
The castle is still private property of Count Toerring. In front of the castle (from the perspective of my sketch that would be on the right hand side) there are former farm buildings which now house little boutiques, artwork and a cinema. On the photo below you see the entrance building:
Dann fuhr ich weiter nach Diessen, hielt unterwegs noch kurz an der Ammer – dem Flüsschen, welches dem Ammersee seinen Namen gab. Dort genoss ich einen kleinen Spaziergang und das Alpenpanorama:

Da ich heute nicht viel Zeit zum Zeichnen habe, wollte ich wenigstens ein kleines, schnelles Bild vor dem Frühstück schaffen. Wahrscheinlich ist es die Sehnsucht nach Frühling, die mich den Klee wählen ließ…
Not having much time for sketching today, I at least wanted to do a fast one before breakfast. It must be the longing for spring which made me choose the clover flowers…
Die bunten Planen, mit welchen die Segelboote abgedeckt sind, bilden willkommene Farbkleckse im Grau. Interessant: intuitiv will man das Wasser dunkel malen an einem solchen Tag, doch wenn man hinsieht, ist die spiegelnde Oberfläche erstaunlich hell! Verwitterte Pfosten und Baumstämme sind stets ein lohnendes Motiv und machen im Aquarell immer Spaß. Man kann ihnen mehr oder weniger Farbe und Struktur verleihen, außerdem dienen sie als Vordergrund, Perspektivgeber und führen das Auge ins Bild.
The tarpaulins protecting the boats are welcome dots of colour on a gray, rainy day. Interesting: intuitively I tend to paint the water in dark colours on such a day, but looking more closely it becomes clear that the reflecting surface actually is surprisingly light! Weathered posts and poles as well as trunks always are fun to paint. You can add colour and structure to your liking, moreover they serve as foreground, they define the perspective and lead the eye into the picture.
Letzte Woche schickte mir eine Freundin ein paar Fotos, die sie bei einer Führung durch den Schacky Park in Dießen am Ammersee gemacht hatte. Entsprechend der Jahreszeit und Eigenschaft einfacher Kameras, die mit starken Kontrasten nicht gut klar kommen, waren sie unterbelichtet und arm an Farben. Bei genauerer Betrachtung bzw. etwas Nachbelichtung mit einer Foto-App kamen aber durchaus eine Menge natürlicher Farben ans Licht! Dann wählte ich nur noch das zum Malen reizvollste Bild aus und legte los…
Last week a friend sent me photos she had taken during a guided tour in the Schacky Park in the small town of Dießen at lake Ammersee (about 50km south of Augsburg). According to the season and due to the basic camera the pictures were a bit dark and showed little colour. Looking more closely, and applying a photo app, though, there actually were a lot of nice natural colours emerging! So I just chose the most promising picture and started to paint..
Der Schacky Park ist noch nicht überregional bekannt, lohnt aber einen Besuch, wenn man in der Nähe ist. Sein Name stammt vom Gründer-Ehepaar, den Freiherrn von Schacky, die ganz zu Beginn des 20.Jhd. das Land erworben und in einen Landschaftspark nach englischem Vorbild umwandelten. Später fiel der Park an ein Kloster, welches ihn für Landwirtschaft nutzte. 2005 wurde er unter Denkmalschutz gestellt und in der Gemeinde der Förderverein Schacky Park gegründet, der sich seither um die Pflege des Parks kümmert und auch immer wieder Veranstaltungen dort bietet.
Schacky Park still isn’t widely known but worth a visit if you’re in the region. It got its name from its first owner and creator, baron Schacky, who in the early 20th century had bought the grounds and converted them into a landscape park in the English style. Later the park went to a monastery which only used it for farming and dairy. Only 2005 it got protected and a local society was founded for maintaining it. They also offer several events over the year.
