Interessant: intuitiv will man das Wasser dunkel malen an einem solchen Tag, doch wenn man hinsieht, ist die spiegelnde Oberfläche erstaunlich hell! Verwitterte Pfosten und Baumstämme sind stets ein lohnendes Motiv und machen im Aquarell immer Spaß. Man kann ihnen mehr oder weniger Farbe und Struktur verleihen, außerdem dienen sie als Vordergrund, Perspektivgeber und führen das Auge ins Bild.

The tarpaulins protecting the boats are welcome dots of colour on a gray, rainy day. Interesting: intuitively I tend to paint the water in dark colours on such a day, but looking more closely it becomes clear that the reflecting surface actually is surprisingly light! Weathered posts and poles as well as trunks always are fun to paint. You can add colour and structure to your liking, moreover they serve as foreground, they define the perspective and lead the eye into the picture.
