Felsen und Steine – Stones and Rocks

Zum Üben von Felsen und Steinen habe ich zwei Motive aus dem Tessin ausgesucht; beide zeigen das Verzascatal. Oben: Wanderweg in der Flussaue; unten: direkt an der Verzasca – die grün-türkise Farbe ist typisch für diesen Fluss (das ist nicht die Spiegelung der umgebenden Vegetation, sondern der Mineralgehalt).

For practising stones and rocks in watercolour, I’ve chosen two scenes from my trip to Ticino. Both show the valley of the Verzasca. Above: trail in the river meadows; below: in the river bed. The green-turquoise colour is typical for this river (it’s not a reflection of the surrounding vegetation but the content of minerals).

Ein paar Landschaften – A Few Landscapes

In letzter Zeit habe ich auch imner mal wieder Landschaften gemalt, die ich hier noch nicht gezeigt habe. Oben: in der Lüneburger Heide; unten: im Lauterachtal (Oberpfalz, Bayern).

Erinnerungen an Mallorca – Memories of a Trip to Mallorca

Vor vielen Jahren hatte ich mal eine Woche im Dezember auf Mallorca verbracht. Angenehme Temperaturen, gemischtes Wetter und kaum etwas los – es war sehr schön! Zwei der dort entstandenen Fotos habe ich nun als Aquarell umgesetzt. Oben: ein etwas stürmischer Tag an den Klippen. Unten: im orientalischen Garten von Alfabia.

Many years ago I had spent a week in December on the island of Mallorca. In mixed weather conditions but pleasant temperatures and, most of all, very little tourism, we had a great time! Now I’ve used two of my photos of this trip as reference for watercolours. Above: a windy day at the cliffs; below: in the oriental gardens of Alfabia.

Eindrücke von „unterwegs“ – Wayside Impressions

Letzten Samstag hatten wir hier schönstes Frühlingswetter, das ich nützte, um eine erste längere Radtour mit meinem neuen e-bike zu machen. Von Augsburg-Ost nach Wertingen, 35km einfach. Es war alles ausgeschildert und fast alles auf extra Radwegen, ging prima und machte Spaß. Auf dem Rückweg ließ ich mir etwas mehr Zeit und hielt in Rieblingen, um diese hübsche Kapelle zu malen (oben).

Last Saturday was a lovely spring day, so I decided to go on a ride with my new e-bike. From the east of Augsburg to the small town of Wertingen, 35km one way on well signposted bike-lanes and small roads – it went very well and was much fun. On my way back I took a bit more time to stop for a sketch: this nice chapel in Rieblingen caught my eye (above).

Bei diesem schönen Blick über Biberbach widerstand ich dem Impuls, mit dem Rad gleich den Hügel hinabzusausen und stoppte stattdessen für eine Zeichnung. Da es aber schon später wurde, nahm ich noch ein Foto auf und verschob das Ausmalen auf den nächsten Tag daheim.

This nice view of Biberbach stopped me from racing down the hill: instead, I did this sketch. Since it was getting late, I then took a photo and added the colours the next day at home.
