Gartenmotive machen immer Spaß! Hier habe ich zwei kleine Karten (12,5×7,5cm) frei nach eigenen Fotos gemalt.
Garden pictures are always fun! Here I’ve done two small cards (12,5×7,5cm) from my own reference photos (freely interpreted).
Im Mai 2020 hatte ich diesen schönen Park bereits einmal besucht und auch einen Blogbeitrag mit vielen Bilder gepostet. Doch zum Einen findet man immer wieder neue Perspektiven, zum Anderen ist Pfingsten eine der wenigen Gelegenheiten, wo auch der private Bereich des Gartens zugänglich ist. Daher nützte ich das Wetter am Pfingstmontag für diesen Ausflug.
In May 2020 I already had visited this beautiful park once and posted a lot of pictures. But of course you always find new perspectives and views, moreover pentecost is one of just a handful of occasions the private part of the park is opened for the public. So I profited of the nice weather for another visit.

Die schönsten Farben gibt es in dieser Jahreszeit durch jede Menge Rhododendren, Iris und Mohn…
This time of year, a lot of rhododendron bushes, irises and poppies make for colourful pictures.

Dieses Acrylbild entstand nach Fotos vom Tegernsee, es misst 33x25cm (innen). Für den Rahmen habe ich einen älteren Holzrahmen mittels Heißkleber mit dem Treibholz verkleidet, das ich selbst am Tegernsee gesammelt hatte. Ein paar kleine, bunte Keramikstücke, auch am Tegernsee gefunden, sind auch mit von der Partie (siehe unten). Am Bild gefällt mir besonders, wie das Holz vom Rahmen rechts unten quasi in das Bild mit Holz am Strand übergeht…
This acrylic picture has been done from reference photos taken on lake Tegernsee. It measures 33x25cm (just the painting). For the frame I’ve covered an old wooden frame with the driftwood I’d collected on the shore of lake Tegernsee, using hot glue. Also, some bits of ceramic tiles found on the shore have been added (see below). By the way, I really like the way the wood of the frame almost fuses with the wood on the shore in the lower right edge of the picture…
Seit gestern bin ich wieder daheim von meiner Reha-Kur, und nun möchte ich gern noch ein paar schöne Eindrücke von Bad Wiessee mit Euch teilen.
Back home again, I’d like to share some more impressions of Bad Wiessee and lake Tegernsee.

Wie man sieht, habe ich den Aufenthalt sehr genossen; nun hoffe ich, dass mein operiertes Knie auch weiterhin gute Fortschritte macht….
As you can see I’ve had a very nice stay. Hopefully, my knee will continue to improve!
Nachdem inzwischen mein zweites Knie operiert wurde, befinde ich mich gerade auf Reha-Kur in Bad Wiessee. Eine wunderschöne Gegend! Inzwischen habe ich auch schon ein paar Impressionen in Postkartengröße festgehalten, in Aquarell und auch ein in Acryl.
After my second knee surgery I’m now staying in Bad Wiessee on lake Tegernsee for physical therapy. This is a beautiful region! I’ve already started to catch some impressions as painted postcards; some in watercolour, one as acrylic.

Ein paar Tage lang soll das Wetter noch schön bleiben – hoffentlich!
The forecast for the next few days is still good – let’s hope for the best!
Vor zwei Wochen habe ich einen Tagesausflug gemacht, um im Altmühltal zu wandern und das kleine Städtchen Greding anzusehen. Zunächst besichtigte ich Burg Prunn, die auf einem Felsen über dem Flusstal thront und eine lange, wechselhafte Geschichte hinter sich hat. Unter anderem wurde dort eine alte Handschrift des Nibelungenliedes gefunden.
Two weeks ago I went for a daytrip, hiking in the Altmühl valley and visiting the small town of Greding. First, I visited Prunn Castle, which resides on a cliff over the valley. It dates from 1200aD and has seen a lot during the centuries. About 500 years ago a manuscript has been found there telling the Song of the Nibelungs.
Danach fuhr ich auf die andere Seite der Altmühl, um bei Einthal in eine Klamm zu wandern.
Then I crossed the river Altmühl to start my hiking tour through a ravine in the woods.
Mit Stöcken, Wanderstiefeln und schön vorsichtig ging es teils steil nach oben, teils auf engen Wegen – ein wildromantisches Erlebnis!
Using my canes and wearing hiking boots, I climbed upwards on partially slippery rocks and on narrow paths – a wild and romantic experience!
Ganz oben gibt es dann auch einen Aussichtspunkt, von welchem man einen perfekten Blick auf Burg Prunn hat:

In einer großen Runde kehrte ich zum Auto zurück – insgesamt war ich 3 Stunden unterwegs. Danach besuchte ich eine Greifvogel-Flugschau auf der Rosenburg, dazu gibt es aber keine Bilder, weil man dort zwar Fotos machen darf, diese jedoch nicht veröffentlicht werden dürfen. Den späten Nachmittag verbrachte ich dann im Städtchen Greding, das mich schon lange immer wieder „anlachte“, wenn ich auf der A9 daran vorbei fuhr.
After 3 hours of hiking I got back to my car. Then I visited a show of flying birds of prey on Rosenburg Castle, the photos of which I’m not allowed to publish. In the late afternoon I went to the small town of Greding which I always pass on the motorway and whose medieval towers had made me curious.

This less known but beautiful and interesting part of Bavaria is worth a trip!
Ein paar Aquarelle sind in den letzten Wochen entstanden. Burg Zwernitz und der Garten Sanspareil waren offensichtliche Motive: oben der Garten, unten eine Ansicht der Burg.
During the last weeks I’ve worked on a few watercolours. Zwernitz Castle and Sanspareil garden were two obvious motives: above the garden, below a view of the castle.
Einen Frühlingsspaziergang in der Oberpfalz habe ich nur schnell im Sketchbook festgehalten: die Birken und Weißdornbüsche gefielen mir.
Then I did a fast sketch of a nice walk, the birches and hawthorn bushes looked so fresh!
Auf demselben Spaziergang fand ich die Laterne neben den Tulpen:

Und schließlich reizte mich ein Stilleben: Gin Tonic mit den durchsichtigen Gläsern und nur teilweise durchsichtigen Eiswürfeln schien eine Herausforderung. Das Bild fand ich im Netz.
Also, the photo of Gin Tonic with different transparencies (glass, ice cubes) I had found in the net, seemed a nice challenge.
Fotos erhalten die Erinnerung an schöne Urlaubstage, großartige Landschaften und interessante Orte. Mehr noch, wenn diese Fotos als Vorlage für Aquarelle dienen – es ist ein Nochmal-Erleben der besonderen Art.
Photos preserve our memories of happy vacations, great landscapes and interesting places. Even more so, when they serve as reference for watercolours – painting is a special kind of reliving.
Und nun habe ich noch ein Bild von meiner gestrigen Fahrradtour. Bei herrlichem Wetter konnte man von den Hügeln im Landkreis Friedberg die Alpen sehen – und bei Aufnahmen mit dem Teleobjektiv rückten diese optisch noch näher heran.
The last picture is from my bike tour yesterday: great weather offered a view of the alps from the hills around Friedberg. Taking pictures with the tele photo lens they seemed even closer.
Dies Wochenende verbringe ich mal wieder bei meiner Mutter, die wie stets verschiedene frische Blumen in der Wohnung hat. Die Gelegenheit zum Zeichnen ließ ich mir nicht entgehen! Im A5 Aquarellbuch waren alle vier recht schnell gemalt.
This weekend I’m at my Mum’s place where there always are several fresh flowers. A perfect occasion for practising! These four have been done quite fast in my watercolour sketchbook .
