Dies Bild ist eine Erinnerung an letztes Frühjahr, als ich in meinem Stadtteil mit dem Fotoapparat unterwegs war… Ob der Flieder dieses Jahr wieder so üppig blühen wird?

Letzten September hatte ich die berühmte Altstadt von Rothenburg ob der Tauber besucht. Bei bestem Wetter hatte ich das Glück, („dank“ Corona), sie ohne den sonst üblichen Touristentrubel erleben zu können. Eines der vielen Fotos, die ich dort gemacht hatte, war nun Vorlage für dies Aquarell.
Last September I had the pleasure to visit the world famous Old Town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Thanks to Corona, there was no mass of tourists as usual, despite the fine weather. One of the many pictures taken there was reference for this watercolour.
Die Gorge du Verdon ist eine tiefe Schlucht in der Provence, auf deren Grund der türkisfarbene Fluss Verdon dem Stausee Lac de Sainte-Croix entgegenfliesst. Mein Besuch dort ist etliche Jahre her, aber wenn es klappt, werde ich nächstes Jahr nochmal Urlaub in der Provence machen…😊
This canyon, formed by the turquoise river Verdon, is situated in Provence. Here you see the river flowing into the reservoir lake of Sainte-Croix. My last visit there was many years ago, but hopefully next year I’ll be able to pass my vacation in Provence once again 😊
Während es heute draußen stürmt und regnet, habe ich mich mir ein paar Fotos als Inspirationsquelle für Aquarellpostkarten herausgesucht. Das erste stammt aus einem Park, die beiden anderen sind mediterrane Motive – von Fotos aus Südfrankreich. Urlaubsstimmung!!
With storm and rain outside today, I’ve selected some photos from my stash as reference for watercolour postcards. The first one is a parc scene, the others show mediterranian motives, from photos taken in the South of France… Dreaming of my next vacation!!
Auf einem Winterspaziergang fand ich diesen Blick auf die Kapelle St.Thomas im Friedberger Stadtteil Rederzhausen. Das Gebäude im Vordergrund rechts gehört zu einem Sägewerk.
On a walk I found this view of the chapel of St.Thomas in Rederzhausen (part of the town of Friedberg, Bavaria). The strange building in the right foreground belongs to a sawmill.
Nach einem Foto, das mir die Mutter meiner Enkel von ihrer Mutter-Kind-Kur auf Rügen geschickt hatte. Wie man sieht, können sich gerade Kinder, entsprechend angezogen, auch bei Wind und Wetter ganz wunderbar am Strand beschäftigen…
This watercolour has been done from a reference photo the mother of my grandchildren had sent me. They had spent a winter holiday on the island of Rügen in the Baltic Sea. As you see, kids – dressed accordingly – love to play on the beach for hours even in cold and windy weather….
Etwas Farbe und Sehnsucht nach Frühling bringt dieser Strauß, den ich – wieder mal – bei meiner Mutter zu Hause im Aquarell festgehalten habe.

Ein weiteres Winterbild, inspiriert von meinem Spaziergang im Friedberger Umland. Diesmal entstand es aus dem Kopf, nicht nach einem Foto. Diese Verkehrszeichen standen dort überall herum, daher habe ich eines mit ins Bild gesetzt.
Another winter watercolour, inspired by my walk in the surroundings of Friedberg. This time, there was no reference photo, I did it from memory – even the sign, because there are lots of these in the area.
Als es hier vor Weihnachten Schnee gab, hatte ich die Frau auf dem Feldweg fotografiert. Interessant fand ich dabei auch die – für die Jahreszeit – ungewöhnlich „bunte“ Stelle mit dem Felsen und den Bänken. Da haben die Landschaftsarchitekten gute Arbeit geleistet bei der Auswahl der Büsche und Bäume!
In Mid-December, when there was snow here, I had taken the photo that now has been reference for this watercolour. I was a bit intrigued by the unusually colourful spot with the rock and the benches. Well, the landscape architects must have chosen the trees and brushes quite deliberately!
Da ich die Weihnachtstage bei meiner Mutter in Amberg verbrachte, machte ich auch einen kleinen Spaziergang auf dem Maria-Hilf-Berg, wo diese Wallfahrtskirche gleichen Namens steht. Letzterer kommt daher, dass die Amberger im Mittelalter zur Zeit der Pest Maria um Hilfe angefleht hatten und dann ihr zu Ehren nach Ende der Seuche die Kirche erbauten. Nun bin ich zwar evangelisch, aber ein Gebet um Ende der Pandemie habe ich dort in der kleinen Kapelle doch gesprochen…
Spending the holidays at my Mum’s in Amberg, I also took a little walk on the hill with the pilgrimage church called „St.Mary help us“. The name has got a history: in the Middle Ages during the time of the plague the citizens of Amberg called to St. Mary for help against the desease. When the plague was over, they thanked the Holy Virgin by building this church. Well, I’m not catholic, but in the small chapel in front of the church I nevertheless spoke a prayer, asking for the pandemic to end soon….
