This comfy winter blouse combines tartans and lace for a playfully romantic look.
Basis und Inspiration war dieser Stoff, dessen raffinierter Inkjetdruck genau diese Kombination vorgibt. Ursprünglich als Dekostoff gedacht, hatte ich auch ein kleines Sofakissen damit bezogen, doch es war noch viel übrig. Und da es sich um reine Baumwolle handelt, beschloss ich, weitere Karostoffe für eine Bluse dazu zu kombinieren. Denn auch wenn der Basisstoff etwas dicker ist als „normale“ Blusenstoffe, so ist er doch sehr weich, und zusammen mit dem Flanell (Ärmel etc) perfekt für eine warme Winterbluse.
The above fabric acted as basis and inspiration, its fancy inkjet print already showing the combination of tartans with lace and other vintage details. It was sold as material for decoration, so first I’d used it as such, sewing a cushion cover. But there was still much left, and as it’s pure cotton, I decided to go for a blouse. While it’s a bit thicker than „normal“ blouse material, it’s also quite soft, which makes it perfect for a warm winter blouse.
Wie man sieht, habe ich die gedruckten Spitzen durch applizierte, alte Spitzen ergänzt – teilweise muss man zweimal gucken, um zu erkennen, was gedruckt ist und was appliziert!
As you see, I’ve added vintage lace pieces to the printed ones, making it hard to descern which ones are printed and which ones appliqué!
Der Rücken und die Ärmel sowie Passe, Knopfleiste und Kragen bestehen aus zwei verschiedenen Karostoffen im selben Farbschema. Dabei habe ich auf dem Rücken das streng wirkende, gerade zugeschnittene Karomuster durch applizierte Spitze und Rose aufgelockert.
The back and the sleeves as well as the button tape and collar are cut from two different tartans in the same colour scheme. On the back, I wanted to loosen up the straight grain tartan, so I again used appliqué and lace.
Als weiteres Extra bekamen die Ärmel Rüschenmanschetten in schwarz – von einer alten Bluse geschnitten, die ich im Sozialkaufhaus nur erstanden hatte, um die vielen Rüschen weiterzuverwenden. Dies Schwarz wiederholt sich teils in Spitzenborten, teils im Unterkragen, am Steg und in der linken Knopfleiste. Sie blitzt etwas unter der rechten (im schrägen Karo geschnittenen) hervor. Dazu passen sehr alte, bestickte Knöpfe, die ich mal von einer älteren Dame geschenkt bekommen hatte.
Moreover, the sleeves got ruffled cuffs, cut from an old, black blouse which I had purchased in the thrift store/charity shop just for using its ruffles. Also black are some lace borders as well as the collar underneath, the collar band and the left button tape which shows a bit underneath the right one (bias-cut tartan). At last, I added very vintage stitched buttons I once had gotten from an elderly lady.
