Die stille Zeit.. sagt man eigentlich von den Weihnachtstagen, doch da ging es wesentlich lauter zu, als jetzt. Immerhin, ich habe eine Menge zu tun bekommen! Ich arbeite ja als Altenpflegerin bei einem ambulanten Pflegedienst, bin wegen meines Knies schon lang im Krankenstand – und da die OP verschoben wurde, wird es auch noch dauern, bis ich endlich wieder arbeiten kann. Doch mich erreichte ein Hilferuf der Kollegen: die Schutzkleidung geht zur Neige, Nachschub ist nicht zu bekommen, ob ich bereit wäre, welche zu nähen? Ja, klar! Nun sind wir eine sehr große Station, daher werde ich die Arbeit nicht allein schaffen können. Doch da ich ja nur daheim herumhocke, habe ich das Material bestellt, die benötigten Mengen abgeschnitten und portioniert, Schnittmuster erarbeitet und Anleitungen geschrieben. Heute kam die erste Lieferung Stoff: 50 Meter auf Rolle!

The quiet time… usually they mean Christmas, but now it’s much quieter than it was then. Nevertheless, I’ve got my work cut out for me: my collegues asked for help! Working as a nurse for a mobile nursing service, I haven’t been able to go to work for a long time now because of my knee. And with the operation postponed, this won’t change anytime soon. But I’m staying in touch with my boss and collegues, so running out of protective wear and no supplies coming, they thought of my sewing skills… By now I’ve ordered material, measured and cut everything, making kits for the other seamstresses as well as patterns and tutorials. We’re a big service, so I wouldn’t be able to do all the work alone, but with the prepared kits the others will do fine, too. Today the first part of the ordered fabric arrived: 50meters (55yards)!

Aber auch kleine Dinge wie Gummis, Bänder, Draht etc. mussten geschnitten werden:

Die schmalen Gummis für Mundschutz sind fast überall ausverkauft, einen Teil werden wir also mit Bändern machen. Außerdem nähen wir Schutzkittel. Vom Mundschutz habe ich schon mal einen Prototypen genäht:

Somit bin ich beschäftigt! Aber einen kleinen Lichtblick habe ich mir heute früh beim Einkauf (mit Mundschutz) gegönnt:
