Eine weitere Doppelseite in meinem Périgord-Buch: zur Abwechslung mal der Innenraum eines Schlosses, denn ich habe schon so viele Mauern und Türme gezeichnet, dass ich eine neue Herausforderung brauchte. Das Zimmer ist das sogenannte „Ehrenzimmer“ für Gäste, und die Einrichtung ist recht detailreich, daher dauerte es ein paar Stunden, das Bild fertigzustellen.

Another spread in my Périgord book: for a change, I’ve opted for the inside of a castle, having drawn a lot of walls and towers lately… This one was a new challenge: the bedroom for honored guests shows a lot of details, so it took a while to work on.

Hier habe ich nun davon profitiert, dass ich in Monbazillac die ganzen Schränke gezeichnet hatte: Möbel mit Holzmustern gehen inzwischen zügig von der Hand. Neu war die Tapisserie – hier habe ich nur die Farben und das grobe Muster übernommen, ohne das Bild genau darzustellen. Die Vorhänge mit Muster und Drapierung waren auch eine neue Erfahrung.

Now I profited from a former exercise: having drawn all the intricate wardrobes and cabinets in Monbazillac, the wooden furniture this time wasn’t hard to do. On the other hand, the tapestry and the bed curtains were new! For the tapestry I just took the original colours, only roughly recreating the scenery. The curtains show a pattern as well as drapery, also a good exercise.
