Am späten Nachmittag kam ich am Fort La Latte an, das in der Nähe des Cap Frehel liegt. Ich wunderte mich etwas, dass soviel los war, denn selbst sonntags war sonst eigentlich nirgends soviel Betrieb gewesen. Doch am Eingang wurde es mir klar: es war Europäischer Tag des Denkmals – und die Eintrittspreise stark reduziert. Nun, da ich von Letzterem ja auch profitierte, nahm ich die vielen Besucher dann gern in Kauf.
In the late afternoon I arrived at Fort La Latte, which is situated near Cape Frehel. Astonished that there was quite a crowd, I soon learned that it was European Day of the Monuments – with reduced entry fees. Well, profiting from the latter, too, I gladly took up with the many visitors.
Die Burg sitzt strategisch günstig auf einem Felsvorsprung und beherrscht einen großen Teil der Küste. Errichtet wurde es zunächst im 13.Jahrhundert, später zerstört, dann Ende des 17. bis Ende des 18.Jahrhunderts neu auf- und umgebaut sowie erweitert. Heutzutage dient es nicht nur als Besuchermagnet, sondern auch sehr häufig als Filmkulisse für Ritter- und Fantasyfilme (auch für Hollywood!).
The castle is strategically located on a rocky outcrop and dominates a big part of the coastline. It was first built in the 13th century, later destroyed, rebuilt, changed and enlarged from the late 17th century to the late 18th century. Nowadays it not only serves as a main attraction for visitors but also often as filmset – even for Hollywood productions.
Zum Land hin hat es zwei Verteidigungsmauern, jeweils mit Zugbrücken.

Oben: da kann man schon froh sein über ein gutes Tele/Zoomobjektiv! Was hier gut zu sehen ist – und typisch für die Bretagne – : Selbst nah an einem Strandbereich findet man keine Hotel“klötze“! Ein Campingplatz, ein paar Ferienhäuser, teils alte Häuser und ein oder mehrere Hotels in alten Villen, die sich harmonisch ins Bild fügen.
Above: here a good telephoto lens or zoom is appreciated! What you can see here – and that’s typical for Brittany -: even near a beach you don’t find big, ugly hotel complexes! A camping site, some holiday homes and cottages as well as one or more small hotels in old villas, which harmoniously fit in.

… und der Leuchtturm vom Land her gesehen. Man kann auch dort stundenlang spazieren (zu Fuß vom Leuchtturm zum Fort 1,5Std. einfach), doch ich war ja schon in der Bucht von St.Brieuc so lang unterwegs gewesen – außerdem war es schon spät und ich hatte noch die Rückfahrt nach St.Brieuc vor mir.
…and the lighthouse seen from the land side. You can walk and hike for hours there (on foot it takes 1,5 hours from the lighthouse to the Fort – one way), but I already had walked a lot in the bay of St.Brieuc today; also, it was already late and I still had to drive back to St.Brieuc.

eine stolze fast schon zu perfekte Burg!
Aber noch mehr beeindruckt mich die Landschaft und ihre Vegetation und dieser Blick auf den Leuchtturm vom Landesinneren her.! Ist halt ganz anders als bei uns.
