Nach dem Besuch des Schiffsfriedhofs in Camaret machte ich auf der Rückfahrt nach Hennebont einen Abstecher nach Douarnenez. Dieses Städtchen verdient mehr als nur einen Abend, aber man kann halt nicht alles sehen in 2 Wochen… Immerhin, kurz vor dem Ortseingang gab es schon mal einen interessanten Strand:
After my visit to the graveyard of ships in Camaret I made a short detour on my way back to Hennebont, to visit Douarnenez. The latter deserves more than just some hours, but you can’t see everything during a two-week stay… Anyway, just before entering the town there already was an interesting beach:
Sandstrand mit Felsen und Gezeitentümpeln, finde ich immer recht abenteuerlich, es lockt zum Entdecken!

Strandglas ist mir zum Basteln ja immer willkommen, auch eine kleine Tonscherbe ist dabei, und die große Muschel ist 8cm lang! Doch dann ging es weiter zum Hafen:
Of course, I can always use sea glass! There is also a small shard of china, and the big shell is 8cm long! But then I continued towards the harbour:
Ich kam zur rechten Zeit, um den Fischern bei der Reparatur ihrer Netze zuzugucken.
I arrived in time to watch the fishermen mend their nets.
An einer Wellblechwand ist das Leben der Fischer dargestellt:

Auf der anderen Seite des Ortes befinden sich der Freizeit- und der Museumshafen:
On the other side of town the marina and a museum’s harbour are situated:
Oben: die Einfahrt in den Segel- und Museumshafen wird von einer Insel geschützt. Unten: die Schiffe im Museumshafen konnte ich nur noch von außerhalb betrachten; einige kann man begehen, wenn man früher dran ist 🙂

Und zum Schluss erfuhr ich noch etwas Interessantes: es gibt inzwischen dort Läden, die Tee, Kaffee und andere Produkte aus Übersee verkaufen, die nicht nur Bio und Fairtrade sind, sondern auch klimaneutral befördert wurden: nämlich auf großen Seglern wie früher! Ist das nicht eine Idee!? Zumindest für länger haltbare Ware!
At last, I learned something interesting: there are shops where you can buy tea, coffee and other products which not only are Bio and Fairtrade, but also have been shipped without impact on the climate: on tall ships like in former times! Now, that’s a good idea, isn’t it? At least for long-life goods.
