Auf dieser Seite geht es um schöne, wenn auch nicht unbedingt lesbare/verständliche Schriften. Mittelpunkt bildet eine Postkarte, die ich vor Jahren in Istanbul gekauft habe – in der osmanischen und der arabischen Kultur gibt es ja auch wundervolle Bücher und Schreibkunst. Dies hier stellt das Siegel irgendeines Sultans dar. Links daneben – ungefähr aus der gleichen Zeit – mittelalterliche Schriften auf einem bibliophilen Geschenkpapier. Washi-tape mit Schrift und zwei gepresste Blüten aus einem alten Album runden das Ganze ab. Den linken Rand schmückt eine Spitzenborte mit Glassteinen. Rechts wieder ein Trennblatt aus Spinnweb-Pergament, den ich diesmal mit „geheimnisvoller“ Zeichenschrift beschrieben habe.

This page is about beautiful (while not necessarily readible/understandable) script. Centerpiece is a postcard purchased in Istanbul some years ago. In Ottoman and Arabic culture there are wonderful books and examples of calligraphy. This one is the signature of some sultan. To the left, medieval texts on a wrapping paper show the western equivalent. Washi tape with handwriting and two pressed flowers from a vintage album add interest. The left edge is embellished with a lace border and some rhinestones. On the right side a cobweb parchment insert is inscribed with a „mysterious“ writing.

Auf der anderen Seite erscheint eine Digitalcollage aus alter englischer Schrift, Jugendstil-Mustern von William Morris und dem Bild eines Schmetterlings aus einem alten Naturbuch. Ein Zierband, das unten über die Seit hinausragt, trennt die Collage vom Zitat, das noch oben und unten vom Buchstempel eingerahmt wird.

On the other side of the parchment a digital collage appears. Fragments of an old English manuscript, pieces of designs by William Morris and the picture of a butterfly from an old book are assembled here. A decorative ribbon that separates the collage from the quote on the left, is cut longer than the page to show even when the book is closed.
