Moment mal , werdet Ihr sagen: heute ist doch PALMsonntag! Stimmt, so heißt das hier in Deutschland. Aber nicht überall! Durch meinen Job im ambulanten Pflegedienst muss ich natürlich öfter sonntags arbeiten, so auch heute. Unter anderem kam ich zu einer alten Dame, die eine 24Std.-Kraft aus Kroatien bei sich wohnen hat. Und letztere erzählte mir, in Kroatien hieße der Tag „Blumensonntag“, und es sei Brauch, solche Wasserschalen mit Blumen auf den Frühstückstisch zu stellen:
Wait a minute – today is Palm Sunday! Right, that’s how it’s called in English as well as in German, but not everywhere! My job with a mobile nursing service requires me to work on several Sundays each month – this one, too. When visiting an old lady who has a hired assistant from Croatia, I found this waterbowl full of flowers on the table. The woman from Croatia then explained, that in her country this Sunday is called Flower Sunday and creating these bowls was a custom.
Ein wunderschöner Brauch, finde ich! Und hätte ich einen Garten, hätte ich auch gleich selbst so eine Schale gefüllt. Stattdessen gestattete mir die alte Dame, nach meinem Dienst in ihrem Garten zu fotografieren:
A very nice custom, don’t you think? If I had a garden myself, I’d go and fill a bowl, too! Instead, the old lady allowed me to take pictures in her garden after I had finished my working tour:
